Victory beats world record - it's official
Moe ran a timed mile at 166.004 mph (267.158 km/h) on the Victory Kingpin, then backed it up with a run at 165.6 mph (266.507 km/h), giving him the average of 165.8 mph (266.83 km/h) that goes into the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) record books for the 2000-M-AG class. The class includes bikes of up to 2000cc with modified frames that are gas-powered but do not use turbochargers or superchargers. The previous class record of 163 mph (262.323 km/h) had stood since 1973.
"Setting a new record makes the ride home from the salt a lot more enjoyable," Moe said. "If we had finished second, the drive home to Minnesota would have seemed like an eternity."
World record holder Laura Klock rode a stock Victory Vision at the BUB Speed Trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats and posted a top speed of 122 mph, which she backed up with a run at 120 mph.
