The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire - 2016 Bandit9 ‘Eve MkII’
While some custom motorcycles look like they are built to ride, others look more like art. The ‘Eve MkII’ from Bandit9 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, definitely falls into the latter category. You can see this bike in the metal now, at ‘The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire’ in Brisbane.

Even though it looks like a piece of sculpture instead of a functional motorcycle, Eve MkII can be ridden and Bandit9 have produced short-run copies of this bike and some of their other designs to order.

Sleek, streamlined bodywork and custom swingarms are a hallmark of Bandit9’s creations, most of which are based on the kind of Honda 50cc, 90cc and 125cc mopeds and scooters that are prodigious in Vietnam, so there’s no shortage of base material to work from.
The example on show in the Queensland exhibition is one of thirteen bikes that came from the Haas Motor Museum in Texas and reflected the boom in the modern custom bike building scene.

The Motorcycle: Design, Art, Desire is now open at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) and runs to 26 April, 2021. To purchase tickets, go to: qagoma.qtix.com.au
