Suzuki RM250
Plus, Renthal tapered aluminium handle- bars now come as standard equipment. The best thing about this year's RM250, though, is what stays the same - a better combination of power and handling than any competitor on the track. Powered by a 249cc, two-stroke, liquid-cooled, reed valve intake engine, the RM250 retains a 66.4mm x 72.0mm bore and stroke.
Redesigned cylinder exhaust ports improve the Suzuki's power and torque output at mid-high rpm range and maximum roll-on acceleration. New main exhaust ports are enlarged to 42.6mm, while the sub-exhaust ports are re-shaped to be narrower and shorter. The Digital CDI matches ignition timing to throttle opening, while the 38mm Keihin carburetor ensures precise fuel/air mixing for smooth, strong throttle response.
The RM250 incorporates a five-speed transmission with heavy-duty multi-plate clutch. Suzuki's single backbone, chrome moly steel frame combined with a rectangle cross-section, aluminium alloy swingarm is designed for maximum strength and minimal weight. Repositioning the engine in the chassis has resulted in the drive sprocket now being 3mm higher, creating more stable movement of the swingarm and improved rear wheel traction. Front and rear suspension settings are also revised to work with the new drive sprocket position to further improve traction.
The RM250 is now available for a retail price of $8,990.
