Suzuki GSX-R1000
Epitomising the latest in race bred technology, engineering and design in the world of performance motorcycles, the latest GSX-R1000 is a master in its class, offering more power, technology and agility than ever before. For 2007, Suzuki's 1000cc sportsbike boasts an impressive power increase with a unique, new, rider-adjustable engine management system with three performance settings. Featuring an all-new twin exhaust system, the new GSX-R1000 is the most powerful, most responsive and cleanest running open class motorcycle Suzuki has ever built.
At the heart of the GSX-R1000 is a new 999cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generating increased power, torque and acceleration as the powerplant incorporates forged aluminium-alloy pistons, chrome connecting rods, hollow camshafts, and a secondary balancer shaft for reduced vibration. The GSX-R1000's new more compact fuel injection system features the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System (SDTV) now with each injector having twelve smaller holes replacing the previous four-hole injector system for improved fuel delivery.
Intake and exhaust ports are newly reshaped and eight percent bigger with larger titanium exhaust valves, more aggressive camshafts, and iridium spark plugs. Suzuki's new engine management system is four times more powerful than the previous system and a handlebar mounted switch allows the rider to choose from three engine settings to match riding conditions. Utilising a trapezoidal shape as seen on works racebikes, the new bigger radiator has 10% more cooling capacity, while the oil cooler now works with a larger oil pump.
Suzuki's close-ratio, slick shifting, six-speed transmission with an adjustable back-torque limiting clutch allows smooth downshifts and a rack and pinion operating system provides more positive clutch feel while the new self-adjusting hydraulic clutch minimises changes in feel across long rides.
The all-new aluminium-alloy twin-spar frame of the GSX-R1000 is built using five castings for lightweight, unmatched handling and performance, increased production precision, and reduced weight. The brand new 2007 GSX-R1000 sports bike is expected to be available in Australia in April next year with pricing and colours to be announced closer to its arrival.
