Superbikes Round 6 - Monza
The usual Superpole guns, Troy Bayliss (Xerox Ducati) and Troy Corser (Yamaha Italia), couldn't match Haga's flying 1'44.94 Superpole lap.
Race 1
Roberto Rolfo (Ten Kate Honda) bolted from tenth on the grid to lead at the end of lap one, but couldn't maintain the pace against a determined Toseland and Haga.Toseland took the lead on lap two and held off Haga, but only until lap nine. What was looking like a definite podium for Rolfo turned to frustration when he ran out of fuel on the final lap. Bayliss fought his way into second as Toseland fell back with rear tyre blistering, while Max Biaggi (Alstare Suzuki) was lucky to claim the final podium slot after running wide late in the race.
