Ride your Motorcycle Week – 29 Nov to 5 Dec
‘Ride Your Motorcycle Week’ is underway and encourages riders to get their road bikes, scooters, dirt bikes and OHVs out and blow off some cobwebs this week ahead of summer.

With motorcycle sales up 8.3 per cent to date in 2021, organisers of this annual initiative, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), are hoping to see more bikes in action this year than ever before.
Previously known as Ride your Motorcycle to Work Week, the FCAI’s decision to ditch the ‘to work’ element acknowledges the changing workplace environment under COVID-19 and is also intended to broaden the appeal of the event.

“COVID has obviously changed the way Australians think about commuting, but the name change is about more than acknowledging working from home,” said FCAI Chief Executive, Tony Weber. “The off-road segment has boomed during the last two years, and this is acknowledged in the campaign’s name change.”

There are other positives to riding, too, as Weber explained.
“Riding has a real role to play in helping Australia get back to work, offering socially distanced transportation and alleviating congestion and parking issues. As ever, our secondary goal is to capture the attention of policy makers who too often overlook riding in developing transportation infrastructure.”

Another element of this initiative is a reminder to give your bike the once over and get it serviced ahead of longer rides over summer.
The FCAI has signed up a high-profile ambassador for this year’s Ride your Motorcycle to Work Week in newly-crowned Moto2 World Champion, Remy Gardner.

“Australia, it’s time to get back on your bike,” Gardner said. “From the bottom of my heart I sincerely wish that you have a great time coming out of lockdown and get out on your bikes, have a ride and enjoy the sun and the freedom again. Hope you can all get back to normal life and have a good time out on your bikes!”

Throughout Ride Your Motorcycle Week, advertising will encourage motorcyclists to dust off their bike of choice and get busy having fun, with prizes for riders, too, including a year’s free motorcycle servicing.
