Remy Gardner Commits to GRT Yamaha for 2026-27
GRT Yamaha's Remy Gardner has inked a new two-year deal that will see him remain with the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team through to the conclusion of the 2027 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) season. Announced on the eve of the Hungarian WorldSBK round in July, the new deal will extend the Aussie’s tenure with the Italian team to five years.

Gardner made the move to WorldSBK from MotoGP in 2023 and has stood on the podium twice, with third-place finishes in 2024 and 2025, both at Assen. The former Moto2 World Champion has finished inside the top five on ten occasions from a total of 87 starts in WorldSBK at time of writing. Eleventh in the championship coming to Hungary, a Race 1 incident not of his own making saw the 27-year-old hospitalised and declared unfit for the rest of the weekend, in turn dropping him to thirteenth in the championship.

Reflecting on the contract extension, Gardner said: "I'm pleased to continue my journey with Yamaha in WorldSBK. We've had a solid run so far, but I genuinely believe there's much more potential to unlock.
“When everything clicks, we've proven we can be fast and fight up front. My focus now is on achieving that level more regularly for the rest of this season and stepping it up again in 2026."

Yamaha Motor Europe’s Road Racing Sporting Manager, Nicolo Canepa, explained that Gardner had proven to be a key asset to their WorldSBK program—not only with his pace and potential, but also with the detailed technical feedback he provides.
“This input is instrumental in the continued development of the R1. We've already seen [Remy’s] ability to contend for podiums, and our aim is to build greater consistency towards the end of this season and carry that into next year," said Canepa.

Gardner’s new deal effectively removes him from contention for a potential factory seat with Pata Maxus Yamaha, amid speculation surrounding Jonathan Rea's future.
Less than a week after Gardner’s retention by GRT Yamaha was announced, WorldSSP front-runner Stefano Manzi was confirmed as the Aussie’s new teammate, replacing Dominique Aegerter in the satellite Yamaha squad.
