Rare classics to go on show at 2014 Moto Expo Brisbane
The older rarities include a 1911 Triumph TT racer, which is one of only two in the world, the only 1913 Precision in existence and a 1959 Matchless dirt track racer owned by Brisbane local John Finglas and raced at the RNA Showgrounds throughout the 1960s.
A bike never been seen before in Australia is the factory works SR500 ridden by five-time World MX Champion George Jobe in the 1984 World 500 Motocross Championship.
Moto Expo will also see the return of the Geoff Grocott-built Vincent HRD speedway sidecar outfit to the historic motorcycle-racing precinct. Current owner Ray Andrieux purchased the Vincent in 1969 and raced it at the RNA Showgrounds with great success throughout the early 1970s.
After selling this rare racing outfit in the late 70s, Andrieux bought it back in 2006 and spent two years finding the missing parts to restore it to how it was when he last raced it.
Event Organiser Troy Bayliss said it was an incredible feat to secure such a rare collection of bikes for Moto Expo.
"To bring all of these rare motorcycles together in one exhibition is a huge achievement," Bayliss said. "It is especially fitting that we will have two of the original bikes that raced at the RNA Showgrounds during the 1960s on display.
"Never before has a motorcycle exhibition played host to such an amazing array of historic motorcycles."
Along with the classic and vintage bikes, visitors can also check out the latest offerings from a wide range of manufacturers, as well as more show bikes in Gasoline Alley's 'Show N Shine' display.
Set to be the largest motorcycle exhibition ever seen in Queensland, Moto Expo promises up to 100 exhibitors and an incredible entertainment line-up.
