MV Agusta stripped of results from Australian World Supersport round
Almost five months after the Phillip Island World Supersport round, the results have been adjusted following confirmation of one team’s technical infringement.

Following a report submitted by the FIM Superbike World Championship Technical Director to the FIM World Superbike Stewards on 30 July, all three riders from the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team will be stripped of their results from the race.
The Technical Director reported that some engines belonging to the MV Agusta Reparto Corse team were unsealed without prior permission after the Australian round. This is an infringement of the 2020 FIM Superbike, Supersport and Supersport 300 World Championships regulations; specifically, article 2.3.10 in general and paragraphed.

FIM WorldSBK Stewards stated that the team’s act didn’t occur with an intention to make an infringement, nor to gain an advantage in any way. This, they say, was more of a visual mechanical check and the result of a miscommunication.
Despite the team “self-reporting” to the FIM about the issue, the unsealing process was not performed as per the Championship regulations and therefore, the penalty for infringement of article 2.3.10.d has been applied.

In accordance with the FIM Disciplinary and Arbitration code, FIM Stewards decided to penalise MV Agusta Reparto Corse by disqualifying them from all events in which the unsealed engines were used. That means 2 from Randy Krummenacher (the Phillip Island pre-season test as well as the race) and 1 each from Raffaele De Rosa and Federico Fuligni.

The penalty makes little difference to Krummenacher, who crashed out of the race on the opening lap and left the team in controversial circumstances in July. However, the penalty robs De Rosa of the second-place finish he secured in the race, and the resulting 20 championship points. De Rosa’s disqualification moves Corentin Perolari (GMT94 Yamaha) into third place on the official results.
Fuligni, who finished in ninth place, will have his results scrubbed from the records and lose seven championship points.
