MotoE launches 2023 season
The 2023 Enel FIM MotoE World Championship held its season launch at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy on 17 March, ahead of a season start at Le Mans in May.

This season marks the beginning of a new era for the electric bike category, with the biggest change being that MotoE now has World Championship status. Additionally, Ducati will make their debut as manufacturer for all bikes on the grid, replacing Energica, and this year’s series will be the biggest since the first MotoE World Cup in 2019, with eight rounds on the 2023 calendar.

Those present at the launch included Enel CEO and General Manager Francesco Starace, Ducati Motor CEO Claudio Domenicali, and Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. Additionally, there were presentations from Elisabetta Ripa, CEO of Enel X Way – the Official Smart Charging Partner of MotoE, and Philippe Jacquin, Senior VP of tyre development at Michelin, MotoE’s official tyre supplier.

"We are proud to partner once again with FIM Enel MotoE World Championship and to have the addition of other Italian excellence, such as Ducati, on board with us for this journey,” said Starace.
“The world of motorsports provides the ideal setting for integrating and testing cutting-edge charging technologies that can then be applied to everyday mobility, supporting the electrification of transportation, which is key to ensuring the energy transition."

Following speeches from all the key players, Ducati’s all-new ‘V21L’ electric racing motorcycle was ridden around Vallelunga by former GP rider and MotoE entrant in 2020 and 2019, Alex De Angelis.
The 2023 Enel FIM MotoE World Championship gets underway at Le Mans, France, on 12-14 May, alongside Round 5 of the MotoGP World Championship.
