Metalback cafe racer
The catch cry for the next decade is surely green and clean, and this concept by Jordan Meadows - best known for his futuristic automotive design for Mazda (Kiyora and Furai concepts) - encapsulates the best from the cafe racer era as well as employing a clean and green bio-diesel engine. Meadow's says that he has tried to merge substance and sustainability with speed and style. The concept is powered by a V4 engine running on bio-diesel, which also delivers an increased range over a petrol alternative, yet is more environmentally friendly. Following this theme, the frame and skin are crafted from recycled aluminium, which reduces weight, further increasing fuel efficiency.
Meadow's sought to move the cafe racer concept forward by combining the original look of cafe racers with the power of vintage WW2 fighter planes to achieve it. The concept has a bulky, yet sleek aerodynamic look, plus styling that is definitely 'out there'.
According to Jordan, "currently, the motorcycle market is devoid of a product which has been designed for sustainability while offering style and uniqueness for the enthusiast."
He gets no argument there, and we say bring on the Metalback.
