Marco Bezzecchi signs with Aprilia
After securing Jorge Martin at the start of June, Aprilia has completed their factory team line-up for 2025, signing Marco Bezzecchi to ride the RS-GP on a multi-year deal. The 25-year-old from Rimini will be the first Italian rider for Aprilia Racing since Lorenzo Savadori in 2020.
A product of Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Academy, Bezzecchi started his grand prix career in Moto3 in 2015. His first win in that category came in 2018 and was backed up by two more that ultimately saw him finish third in the championship that year. Stepping up to Moto2 in 2019, Bezzecchi’s best season in the intermediate class was 2021, when he again finished third in the championship off the back of a race win, six other podiums and eight top ten finishes.
In 2022, the Italian made his MotoGP debut with Mooney VR46 Racing Team and has remained with the Ducati satellite squad (now named Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) since. Ahead of this season, Bezzecchi rejected an offer to join Pramac Racing and upgrade from VR46’s year-old Desmosedici to the latest GP24 machine.
To date, Bezzecchi’s best season in the premier class has been 2023, when he won three races, secured seven other podiums and finished third in the championship. After seven rounds of this year’s MotoGP season, Bezzecchi’s best finish has been a third in the feature race at Jerez and he sits in eleventh in the championship.
Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia Racing, was enthusiastic about welcoming Bezzecchi to the factory team, describing him as “one of the best Italian talents” in MotoGP.
“We can’t wait to embrace Bez in Noale; the Italian bike and Italian rider duo are extremely exciting, but even more so is the rider pair which will be formed with Jorge,” Rivola added.
“We are really happy with our line-up for 2025, Martín and Bezzecchi were our first choices for their age, talent, grit, and determination. With them, we can write a new and important chapter in the history of Aprilia Racing.”
