Lambretta reveals G350 and X300 scooters
Storied Italian scooter brand Lambretta is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, and as part of the celebrations, they’ve unveiled two new models – the G350 and X300.
Of the two, the G350 has a classic scooter look and will be a premium model in the 2023 range, while the X300 is more modern in appearance and kicks off a new naming convention for Lambretta, too.
Lambretta G350
The G350 was first seen at EICMA back in 2019, when it was presented as the ‘G325 Special’. Between then and now, the single cylinder scooter’s engine capacity has been increased, along with other changes, with the G350 representing what Lambretta says is the high-end extension of the existing V-Special classic scooter range, which is available in 50cc and 170cc form locally.
The 330cc four-stroke single powering the G350 produces a claimed 25.8hp (19.2kW) and 25.5Nm. This liquid-cooled engine is matched to a traditional scooter CVT transmission, with other G350 features revealed so far including double linkage front suspension, 12-inch wheels, a colour TFT instrument display, keyless ignition, LED lighting, 9.5-litre fuel capacity, 173kg weight and disc brakes front and rear with dual-channel ABS.
Lambretta X300
Kicking off an all-new ‘X’ model line for Lambretta, the X300 is defined by its angular and tapered styling, including on the reshaped leg shield and sidecovers. The X300’s hexagonal headlight is in the familiar Lambretta style, but other elements, like the front indicators, switch blocks, tail light, wheels, contoured seat and oblong mirrors, add a modern touch and set the model apart from both the G350 and existing V-Specials.
In addition to its different styling, the X300 also features a different engine, of 275cc capacity, but at 18.45kW and 24.5Nm, the maximum outputs are only fractionally down on those of the larger G350.
Matched to a CVT transmission, the X300’s liquid-cooled four-stroke single is part of a package on the X300 that includes double linkage front suspension, 12-inch wheels, disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, LED lighting and a digital instrument panel.
Lighter than the G350 at 165kg, the X300 has a smaller fuel capacity of 7.0 litres and misses out on the TFT instrument display and keyless ignition of the premium G350.
Due in 2023
Production of the Lambretta G350 and X300 will get underway later this year, with an Australian release for both models expected sometime in 2023. Further details, including colours and pricing, will be announced by Lambretta Australia closer to local arrival.
Both new scooters are almost certain to be priced above the V-Special 50 and V-Special 200, which currently list for $3,590 and $4,990, respectively (+ ORCs).
