Husqvarna confirms Norden 901 for production

A new addition to Husqvarna’s street bike range and what the brand are touting as their first “travel motorcycle”, the production Norden 901 is described as a “dynamic and versatile long-distance traveller that will offer the modern motorcycle rider a balance of practical accessibility and comfort.”
Specs are minimal at the moment, but the Norden 901 is expected to borrow heavily from existing KTM models, specifically the KTM 790 Adventure R for the chassis and suspension, and the 890 Duke for the 889.5cc engine. In the Duke R, this parallel twin engine delivers 89kW and 99Nm, so expect similar numbers on the Husqvarna, but tuned to deliver more power and torque lower in the rev range. The 6-speed gearbox in the 890 Duke is also expected to carry over to the Husqvarna.
The only other known features so far include 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, WP suspension componentry and “a perfect balance between off road performance and touring ability”.
Husqvarna adds that the Norden 901 will feature class-leading lightness and power delivery, while comfortable ergonomics and confidence-inspiring handling will make the bike suitable for “daily commutes, extended adventures and everything in between”.
How much of the concept’s styling will make it to the production model is unknown, but given it already has a strong similarity to the Vitpilen and Svartpilen, no major changes are expected.
While a release date for the Norden 901 has not been announced, expect it to be in European showrooms by this time in 2021, with an Australian release likely to follow later in the same year.
