Fraser M/C score budget award at Judgement Day III
Three main trophies were up for grabs, the grand prize for 'Best Overall Customisation,' and supplementary prizes for 'Best Paint' and 'Best Low Budget Customisation'. Morgan & Wacker Brisbane won the major award, but Fraser dealerships won both the runner-up categories.
The theme for Harley's Judgement Day III was 'freedom of expression' and 'tattoo culture'. Entries were judged on originality, style and creativity of customisation, as well as the use of Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories, including both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, paint work and the cost of customisation.
The judging panel for Judgement Day III consisted of: Harley-sponsored stunt rider, Matt Mingay; Live to Ride magazine's Greg 'Loaf' Risk; Barry Goodwin from Men's Health magazine; and Craig Duff from News Limited's Cars Guide.
While Fraser Motorcycles Wollongong picked up the 'Best Paint' trophy, the Sydney franchise scored the 'Best Low Budget Customisation' award.
Fraser's Low Budget winner was 'Rum Smuggler,' a Softail Slim-based creation that featured some subtle, yet effective modifications to turn it into an old-school bobber.
Featuring a brown-leather solo spring saddle and matching genuine Harley-Davidson swingarm saddlebag, the design adopts a blacked-out, minimalist image. A traditional skull and crossbones fly on the bike's tank and rear guard to add a suitable touch.
Greg Ryan, General Manager for Fraser Motorcycles (Sydney) said: "It is fantastic to be a Judgement Day III winner and be part of an exclusive group of dealerships that share the title. We pride ourselves on our custom treatments and are honoured that this was recognised by the judges."
Other touches include the 'Rum Smuggler XXX' name stamped into the engine cover, exhaust wrap, 'XXX' jug painted on the oil tank, and even a bottle of hootch poking out of the saddlebag!
Fraser's other winning creation was 'Woody,' also based on the new Harley-Davidson Softail Slim, which featured stunningly detailed paint in deep metallic brown with wood-grain detailing and other impressive custom touches.
Adam Wright, Director of Marketing for Harley-Davidson® Australia and New Zealand commented: "We would like to thank all the dealers and customers who entered Judgement Day III. The competition was extremely competitive this year, with every entry receiving exceptional scores. It is a testament to the creativity and workmanship of all our dealers that our judging panel were so tasked in arriving at a decision.
"We would like to extend our congratulations to the teams at Morgan and Wacker [who won the major prize of Best Overall Customisation] and Fraser Motorcycles in both Wollongong and Sydney," Wright added.
"Their efforts in creating three very special customisations that perfectly reflect the competition themes were rightfully rewarded. Each design is the very essence of Harley-Davidson and what we stand for."
