Benelli set to introduce BN600 locally
Following ADR compliance and homologation testing begun in May, the BN600 is expected to be available to Australian riders soon. While it shares some appearance similarities with Benelli's bigger capacity machines, like the Century, Café Racer and TnT, the powerplant is unique to the model - an all-new 600cc inline 4-cylinder.
The liquid-cooled 600cc engine features double overhead camshafts, 4 valves per cylinder and four 38mm throttle bodies, resulting in 82 hp (60 kW) @ 11,500 rpm and 52 Nm of torque @ 10,500 rpm. Given its capacity and power, the BN600 is LAMS approved, making it the only new model Benelli currently available in this country to be road legal for learners.
The BN600 built frame features Benelli's signature steel trestle construction, matched to an aluminium rear subframe that carries the rear suspension. The aluminium swingarm is the perfect design to keep all the wheels firmly in contact with the ground.
Suspension features 50mm upside down front forks and an adjustable monoshock rear. The 120/70/17 alloy front rim features twin 320mm floating discs with radial calipers, while the 180/55/17 rear carries a240mm disc with dual piston caliper.
While the 800mm seat height will be a challenge for shorter riders, the tall stance will no doubt appeal to larger riders and those learners who want something with a little more size, grunt and street presence. The BN600 comes with a 15 litre fuel tank and a dry weight of 208kg. Of course, being a Benelli, the BN600 has style in spades and unmistakable looks.
Following successful completion of the homologation and ADR testing process, Australian distributors, FX Powersports, expect the LAMS approved BN600 to retail around the $10,000 mark. Contact FX Powersports for further details on 1300 524 537, or go to www.fxpowersports.com.au
