Barrabool - Round 5. June 2006
In the former, the wins were split between emerging championship contender Mitch Hoad (Team Kawasaki) and veteran Troy Dorron (No Fear Honda) who recorded his first win of the season on his 'home' track. In the latter, it was another dominant performance from Craig Anderson (No Fear Honda) who appears to be the only rider who has found the key to beating Daryl Hurley (Shift Motul Suzuki).
PRO LITES
Mitch Hoad is proving his ablity across all tracks by taking out the moto one win, but only just, from Troy Dorron. The duel between the two would be one of the highlights of the day. With Dorron right on the Kawasaki rider's hammer in the closing laps, Hoad piled on the pace - almost coming unstuck early in the last lap - his quickest circuit actually faster than the top Pro Open lap of the day.
In moto two, Jay Marmont (Motorex KTM) and Kade Mosig (Full Throttle Honda) got the early jump, but it was to be Dorron's race, the Honda rider putting in some super smooth and super fast laps to take the win comfortably from Cam Taylor (Serco Yamaha), Marmont snatching the final podium spot from Hoad.

PRO OPEN
Craig Anderson continued to chip away at Daryl Hurley's championship lead, the Open class fast developing into a two horse race between these two veteran riders.
Cody Cooper was top qualifier, but poor starts would again work against the Honda pilot, Barry Morris (Kawasaki) the surprise flyer in moto one, getting the holeshot, albeit with suspected "gate assistance"! Morris couldn't keep up the pace, soon swallowed up by the following pack as first Reardon, then Anderson began to make his mark on the race. In the second moto, Anderson led from start to finish with his pace even quicker than the first outing, showing his fitness is now 100%. Troy Carroll's (CDR/Nokia/ Yamaha) reported return to competition proved to be premature, the Queenslander at Barrabool as a spectator only.
Fourth and fifth place finishes to an increasingly race fit Darryll King was tempered by bad news for the CDR /Nokia/Yamaha team in the form of a crash and broken collarbone suffered by Matt Moss. CDR's Cheyne Boyd was also in the wars to a lesser extent, but punched out a solid pair of ninth and sixth place finishes. Moss's injury will put him out for the remainder of the Nokia MX Nationals.
