Aussies invited to 2023 Asia Talent Cup selection process
A handful of Aussie teenagers, representing the next generation of our grand prix racing talent, have been invited to take part in the selection process for the 2023 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup.

Hundreds of riders from 20 different countries have applied for a place on the 2023 Idemistu Asia Talent Cup (ATC) grid, representing everywhere from Qatar to Taiwan, Nepal, Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
The ATC Selection Committee has narrowed applications down to a pre-selection field of 83 riders, who have been invited to take part in a selection event at Sepang (on the Sepang Karting Circuit) that will determine the ATC grid for 2023.

Shortlisted riders must demonstrate sufficient skill and ability to make the 2023 ATC entry list, either as one of the 20 main riders, or a reserve.
As well as observing each rider’s performance on track, the Selection Committee will also analyse data from their laps to determine the final field.

The 11 Australian riders invited to take part in the selection process are Cameron Dunker, Alexander Codey, Marcus Hamond, Toby James, Ryan Larkin, Jayden Martin, Samuel Pezzetta, Cameron Rende, Jai Russo, Levi Russo and Harrison Watts. At 16, Pezzetta is the oldest of the Aussie contingent, with the rest either 14 or 15 years old.

Australia doesn’t have the largest representation in the shortlist, with 17 riders from Indonesia, 16 from Malaysia and 14 from Japan.
New Zealand has only one representative, Jean Kento Turner, who’s one of many 13-year-olds on the invited shortlist. Of the 83-rider shortlist, seven are female.
The 2023 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup selection process will be held at Sepang this 18-19 October.
