Aussie in Ducati 'Globetrotters' adventure
The 'Ducati Globetrotters' adventure will take in Europe, Russia, Asia and North America, before returning to Ducati's home at Bologna, with each rider completing their leg of the journey on a new Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
Ducati received more than 3,000 applications to be a part of the Globetrotters ride since it was announced in April. Fourteen semi-finalists then journeyed to Italy to take part in a bootcamp-style test of their riding abilities and mechanical skills, which determined the final seven winners.
The adventure kicks off on July 4 (the 90th birthday of the foundation of Ducati) with the first leg from Bologna to Moscow.
From Moscow, Australian Steve Fraser will take on the longest and most arduous leg of the Globetrotters journey when he rides the Trans-Siberian route to the extreme eastern edge of Russia.
From Kalamunda in WA, Fraser describes himself as a "professional photographer and adventurer". The 50-year-old has been riding since he was eight and says he loves to learn about new cultures and experience the intense sense of adventure while riding a motorbike. Sharing the experience is what he is passionate about.
Recording the places and people they encounter for an online blog (at: globetrotter90.ducati.com), each rider in the relay, including Fraser, will also carry a special Ducati "torch", specially designed by the Ducati Design Center, to symbolically "spread the fire of passion around the globe, the passion that burns and fuels the spirit of Ducati."
