ASBK to race for points at 2026 Australian MotoGP
This year’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix – the last to be held at Phillip Island before moving to the Adelaide Street Circuit in 2027 – will also present a first, with races in the supporting Penrite Australian Superbike Championship presented by Pirelli (ASBK) to count for points. Previously a demonstration event only for ASBK, this year will be a points-scoring round for the first time.

The ASBK races held in conjunction with the 2026 Australian GP this October will serve as the first round in the championship’s all-new summer calendar. Subsequent rounds will be held at The Bend, One Raceway and Queensland Raceway, with a return to Phillip Island in February, before finishing at Sydney Motorsport Park in March, 2027.
With experienced campaigners, like Josh Waters and Mike Jones, against young talents like Harrison Voight, Cam Dunker and former Moto3 rider, Jacob Roulstone, ASBK has already delivered a lot this year, with the action to ramp up for the points-scoring 2026-27 season opener.

“Adding in a points-scoring Australian Superbike Championship round to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will add another layer of intensity and excitement, showcasing the depth of talent coming through the domestic ranks,” said Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Travis Auld.
“This is an exciting announcement for the 2026 event, which we intend to make a fitting farewell to Phillip Island after being an incredible home for MotoGP in Australia for the last 30 years.”

Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle, added: “I have fond memories of the very first Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in 1989 and the thrilling Australian Superbike races, so it is brilliant news that ASBK, which is at an extremely professional level these days, is headed to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix with championship points on the line.”
“Teams and riders will leave no stone unturned to start the new ASBK calendar in the best possible fashion, and spectators are going to be amazed in just how fast ASBK Superbikes lap the Phillip Island circuit.”
ASBK Round 1 is scheduled for 23-25 October, in conjunction with the 2026 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix. For more details, go to: asbk.com.au
