Aprilia Scarabeo 125/200. May 2008
Boasting more that just modern styling, Aprilia have also poured a lot of their engineering and mechanical nouse into the latest model to create what is, in many respects, an all-new model.
Overall dimensions are more compact, while the single cylinder 4-stroke engines has been re-designed, incorporating overhead cam cylinder heads - a first for an Aprilia scooter of this capacity.
The Scarabeo 200 produces 14kW (19hp) @ 8250rpm, while a torque figure of 17Nm @7500 rpm should be more than adequate for most urban rider's requirements.
The Scarabeo 125cc is designed around Italian licensing legislation, but still puts out an impressive 11kW of power.
Catalytic converters are fitted to both models to meet Euro3 emissions legislation.
The frame uses a new, high-strength steel that allows the suspension to work at its optimum. Rear suspension uses the engine & transmission to act as a swingarm, assisted by twin shock absorbers with four different pre-load settings. More specs and pricing will be made available closer to release.
