AMCA Virtual Auction Preview 01 – Harleys
The Bulli Antique Motorcycle Weekend may only be happening in virtual form this year due to COVID-19, but it’s no less of an event because of it.
Many of the attractions from past weekends will continue this year, albeit in virtual form, including the auction, which is open now for pre-bidding ahead of the official online auction from 2:00PM (AEST) on Saturday, 29 August.

Conducted by Manshed Auctions, there are 175 lots on offer, covering a wealth of pre-1985 motorcycle spare parts, accessories, magazines, race programmes and other collectables.
There are more than 20 classic bikes up for grabs, too, covering Harley-Davidson, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, BSA and Moto Guzzi, to name a few.
Listed below are some of the highlights from the Harley consignments.

1922 Harley-Davidson WF Sport Twin – Lot 2
This ultra-rare 1922 WF Sport Twin, with its Douglas-style horizontal cylinder configuration, is one of only 388 made. This Australian-delivered unit was ridden in the Sydney area throughout the 1920s and ‘30s, then stored under the family home following the owner’s passing.
Unearthed in 2016, the bike was brought back to running condition, with new tyres and grips fitted, but its near-century-old patina retained.
An AMCA Senior Award winner at the Bulli Antique M/C Weekend for the past two years, this bike carries a guiding range of $55,000 - $75,000

1942 Harley-Davidson WLA – Lot 5
Described as an original New Old Stock Harley from World War II, this ’42 model WLA still wears its original US-style olive drab paint and has not been restored. According to the consignor, it may not have even been started.
This genuine piece of wartime Harley-Davidson history carries a guiding range of $39,000 - $47,000.

1942 Harley-Davidson WLA – Lot 3
Civilianised by the consignor, a well-known Australian Harley enthusiast, this ’42 WLA has also been totally refurbished by the consignor and comes to auction ready to be registered and ridden.
Guiding range is $18,000 - $22,000

1985 Harley-Davidson Wideglide – Lot 8
On the edge of the AMCA’s eligibility criteria, this ’85 Wideglide has covered only 22,000 miles from new and is described as looking and riding like a new bike, with rim stickers still in place. Period modifications include a non-standard carby, pipes, seat and cosmetic parts.
Eligible for historic rego and an ideal club bike, guiding range is $20,000 - $23,000.

1962 Harley-Davidson Topper - Lot 19
A rare piece of Harley history – and one that shows they weren’t always about big v-twins - this ‘Topper’ was produced from 1960 to ’65. Powered by a 165cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine with CVT transmission, the Topper was aimed at the rising popularity of Honda step-throughs in the US.
One of less than 3,000 made, guiding range for this very good condition example is $8,000 - $10,000.
Other Harley-Davidson consignments are part of this auction, too. The Manshed Antique Motorcycle Auction commences from 2:00PM on Saturday, 29 August, 2020.
