Jack Doohan joins Haas F1 for 2026
Australia’s Jack Doohan is keeping his Formula 1 dream alive after signing with the TGR Haas F1 Team as a reserve driver for the 2026 season. The new role, following a departure from Alpine in January, will see the 23-year-old join Ryo Hirakawa as one of Haas’s two reserve drivers this year.

Doohan, the son of five-time 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion Mick Doohan, joined the Alpine Academy in 2022. He graduated through that junior program to sign with Alpine as reserve/test driver in 2023 and 2024. Making his F1 race debut in the final round of the 2024 season, Doohan’s full-time seat with Alpine for 2025 lasted only six rounds before he was replaced by Franco Colapinto.
Doohan’s best result across those six starts was 13th at the Chinese Grand Prix. Colapinto bettered that only once in his 17 starts last year, with an eleventh at the Dutch Grand Prix.
After his demotion, Doohan returned to a reserve and test driver role with Alpine for the remainder of the 2025 season. The departure was said to be by mutual agreement, allowing Doohan to “pursue other career opportunities.”

"I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” Doohan said. “It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career.
"I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together. I’m eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season."
Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu said he was excited to have Doohan on board, given the Aussie’s impressive racing resume and his experience as a reserve driver.

“The dedication required to remain sharp and prepared to race while getting to know how the team works and so on, it’s challenging for any driver – especially one who’s obviously still very keen to race again at this level,” Komatsu said.
"I’ve enjoyed getting to know Jack and we’re looking forward to welcoming him into the team and benefitting from his contributions.”
The 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship gets underway with the Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix on 5-8 March.
