Only one other for sale in Australia as far as I am aware and priced considerably higher. A real beauty. I am the 2nd owner purchased from a mechanic at V2 Western Australia (Originally Thoroughbreds) at 10,000kms and serviced by V2 with new belts. Since then serviced by Andy at Eurocycles with new belts at 20,000kms. Never dropped, never raced, never missed a beat. Termi’s of course with all the R extras. The Ducati 748 was built from 1994-2002 and sold in 3 build specs; E, S, and R (WSS factory racers identified as SP or SPS). The R was a monoposto only homologation special for WSS (World SuperSport) racing. Under WSS rules, manufacturers had to race what they sold, so the 748R was fitted with everything the factory team wanted to contest the WSS Championship. Those special bits included the frame, engine, suspension, airbox, and slipper clutch. The 748R has a much different engine than the base or S, 106hp thanks to high-lift cams, titanium connecting rods and valves, and fuel injectors centred in the 54 mm intake stacks. The frame was lightened and altered to accommodate the larger carbon fibre airbox, suspension uprated to fully adjustable 43mm Öhlins up front, and Öhlins 2-way rear shock, and cast Marchesini 5 spoke wheels. When released the 748's were reviewed as diminutive knife-sharp handlers. This example is # 0589 of the 1000 built, and presents in original condition with only 25,000k’s use from new. I have a Monster SR2 800 as a daily commute so no ‘cheap’ miles on this. Note the bike was registered in WA but has yet to be registered in QLD. Needs some none serious maintenance work such as full 25k service, new tires and probably could do with new clutch and basket. Some wear and tear road chips and scratches to underside of fairing that I had intended intend to get fixed. The $14,500 is negotiable you wish to carry out this work as I am moving back to WA.
