Yamaha XJR 1300
The XJR1300's new fuel injection system offers high levels of intake control thanks to an ECU-controlled 12-hole 2-directional injector. This monitors rpm and throttle opening to achieve optimum intake efficiency for increased performance. To accommodate the new fuel injection system the XJR1300 features a new intake camshaft with revised valve lift characteristics, and an optimised intake/exhaust valve overlap range for greater intake efficiency.
The attractive new 4-2-1 exhaust system underlines the XJR1300's enhanced performance. The new model achieves its greater level of maximum torque a full 500 rpm lower (6000rpm) than the 2006 machine. A new 3-wayhoneycomb catalyser coated in platinum and rhodium further reduces exhaust emissions, and for more effective operation of the catalyser an oxygen sensor is also fitted. The catalyser is in three parts - two in the mid-section of the exhaust where there are two pipes, and another one in the silencer. In addition, a solenoid controlled air induction system ensures even morecompletecombustion.
A compact version of Yamaha's famous torque boosting EXUP valve uses rpm and gear position data to precisely control exhaust flow, improving torquecharacteristics.
To match the new sportier engine character the front suspension settings have been revised for plush action and light handling, while also reducing nose dive during braking. The 2007 model is equipped with a pair of the latest Öhlins rear shocks designed to offer a more linear and direct feel with optimised rebound and compression damping characteristics. These units help reduce rear end squat for improved traction and enhanced handling. Additional features include a new seat design (incorporating new foam) that offers an optimum balance of sportiness and comfort, the peace of mind of an immobiliser, as well as new dual circular LED tail lights, internal instrument illumination, clear flasher lenses, redesigned side covers and oval mirrors.
All these refinements should come at a premium, but YMA has reduced the price by $700 over the out going model for a new RRP of $13,999.
