XEvo 4-strokes are all business!
The machines set new standards in the top end of the scooter market, with their elegant lines and superb finish creating a clear sense of prestige. The comfortable, ergonomic and protected sitting position delivers a smooth, relaxed ride worthy of any premium two wheeler. The XEvos feature liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-valve fuel-injected engines, with the 400 delivering maximum power of 25kW, and the 250 16.2kW. Furthermore, the duo meets Europe's toughest Euro3 environmental emission standard for motorcycles.
Front suspension is provided by 35mm forks, while the rear is entrusted to two double acting hydraulic shock absorbers with four position spring preload adjustment. There is a 240mm rear disc on both models, while the 250 features a single 260mm front disc, compared to two 240mm front discs on the 400. Both XEvos are equipped with 14-inch front wheels for stability, road holding and superb ride comfort.
The Xevo's styling exudes elegance, with an obvious attention to detail. The twin headlights are enclosed behind tinted plastic covers and the indicators, which double up as hazard warning indicators, are surrounded by decorative chrome. The rear view mirrors, mounted on the front shield and extending to the sides of the high, protective windshield, feature a matching paint finish to emphasise the scooter's true class. The grab handles feature a high grip central insert for extra passenger safety, and extend rearwards to form a comfortable backrest.
"Never before has a passenger been so well treated on a scooter. The comfortable seat and integrated backrest provides a secure and relaxed ride for the regular commuting pillion", said Piaggio's Brand Manager Simon Gloyne. "With fuel prices rocketing skyward once again, the Piaggio XEvo models provide a low cost sophisticated solution for commuters with enough substance and muscle for weekend getaways."
56-litre under seat storage is large enough to hold belongings up to 80cm long. The storage area is also accessible from the rear 'boot', and is opened by a remote control that comes as standard.
The instrumentation includes not only the usual speedometer and rev counter, but a complete suite of warning lights and function indicators, plus a clock and "trip computer".
Accessories include a large windshield, 46-litre top box, leg cover, scooter cover and electronic alarm. The three metallic colours are Sirio Grey, Graphite Black and Midnight Blue.
The XEvos retail for $7,690 (250) and $8,990 (400) respectively, and replace the X8250 and X400 in Piaggio's Australian line up.
