West retains Moto2 seat for 2013
Despite finishing off last year's Moto2 season with a ban from the final race of a contentious drug test, West started 2013 in impressive style with two wins in the Qatar International Road Racing Championship.
Season 2013 will be West's second with the Qatari team, the contract renegotiations no doubt helped by two podiums last year, including an impressive second at Phillip Island, as well as some promising form throughout.
Mr. Nasser Khalifa Al Attiya, QMMF President, and West, signed the agreement after the second round of the Qatar International Road Racing Championship where West won the two races riding a Suzuki.
Al Attiya stated that he is very happy with the performance of the Australian rider and he believes that this coming season that will start on the 7th April at Losail International Circuit will be a great season for all the QMMF Racing Team.
West's performance over the weekend was proof of this, as he won Race 1 by over seven seconds from MotoGP newbie Bradley Smith and Australia's Alex Cudlin (younger brother to Damian, whom West replaced in the QMMF Racing Team), as well as ending Race 2 victorious by over 15 seconds from Nasser Al Malki.
