Vincent at RACV Classic Showcase 2012

Given that the April 29 event clashed with the All British Rally held over the same weekend, bikes were thin on the ground, with no more than half a dozen on display, but amongst the bikes there, one stood out - a classic Vincent Black Shadow.

A 1954 model, the Black Shadow drew attention all day and the immaculately-presented bike deservedly won the event award for the best motorcycle on display. An interesting feature on the bike was a small 'red devil' mascot mounted on the front mudguard.

The owner had reportedly purchased the bike a couple of years ago, and perhaps more impressive than its condition was the fact it was ridden, not trailered, to and from the event.

Other bikes on display included a pair of Norton Commando 850s, a 1952 Norton Dominator, plus another early Norton in barn-find condition and fitted with a sidecar.
