Vale Peter Melton
The Australian off-road motorcycle community is mourning the loss of Peter Melton, who passed away following an incident at a Queensland MX track at the start of November.
A contemporary and former team mate of Craig Dack in the late 1980s and ’90s, Melton was a four-time Australian Supercross champion and three-time Australian Motocross champ, with Pan Pacific SX titles and more than a dozen Queensland MX and SX titles.
Remembered as one of the most humble and laid back riders of his era, Melton remained connected with the sport after his 20-year riding career came to an end, turning his skill at suspension tuning – while he was still competing – into PMR Suspension, a business he established in 2000.
Melton also served as coach and mentor to young riders, particularly in his native Queensland.
JUST BIKES passes its sympathies to Melton’s family and friends.
