Update announced for ZXMOTO launch

Following the opening of Expressions of Interest for ZXMOTO back in May, Urban Moto Imports (UMI) have recently provided an update on the release of this all-new motorcycle range for Australia and New Zealand.

With the appetite for ZXMOTO confirmed by strong response to the EOI from riders, dealers and industry partners, UMI have now released details on the next phase of the brand’s release in the ANZ market. The local website – www.zxmotoaustralia.com.au – is being updated, with pre-orders to open and the first tranche of dealerships to be announced in July.

As previously reported in JUST BIKES, ZXMOTO’s launch range for Australia and New Zealand will include three roadgoing models and three off-road models. The road bike range is led by the 820RR sportsbike that’s powered by an oil/liquid-cooled 819cc triple producing 99kW and 80Nm. Features include a slipper clutch, up-down quickshifter, fully adjustable suspension, steering damper and five riding modes, but full specs were still to be confirmed at time of writing.

Below this, there are a pair of 500 fours – 500RR and 500F. The 500RR is a sportsbike that shares its 470cc inline four with the 500F naked, with outputs likely to be 62kW/46Nm for the 500RR, and 54kW/48Nm for the 500F. The two models share a common frame, suspension, brakes and other parts, but styling is significantly different between the two.

Off-road models for local release are the 450 Rally; an enduro model with Dakar-inspired components and aesthetics, plus MX250 and MX450 motocross models. These are powered by liquid-cooled four-stroke singles, with a five-speed transmission, 21/19-inch wire spoke wheels, KYB suspension and wave brake discs. It should be noted that, as with the other ZXMOTO models announced so far, these specs are preliminary and may not apply to bikes for local release.

The next phase in ZXMOTO’s launch will include an Australian roadshow in August to introduce the new range, followed by the second list of dealerships in September.
