The greatest customs in the world June 2008
Most of these customs were designed to highlight a specific product - be it the wheels, tyres, paint, coachwork or other feature, rather than the actual bike - but either way, they all look fabulous.
As you can see, customising is pretty much predicated by freedom and individuality and builders pride themselves on building the unbuildable! Within current engineering capabilities and moving beyond conventional limitations, builders are creating increasingly radical machines that while not necessarily all that practical to ride around town, showcase new technologies, individual capabilities and offer an insight into the minds of designers and builders.
Perhaps the beauty of customs are that there are no rules. Sure, a bike must be structurally sound, and if designed to be ridden on a public road must meet a host of ADRs and registration requirements. Many of the bikes featured in the next few pages you will love, some you will hate, but who cares. They are an expression of the builder/s and may resemble a work of art, a throwback to days long gone, or offer an interpretation of future bike trends. Whatever your taste, we hope you enjoy this collection of unique bikes.
