Tasmanian AORC rounds cancelled
The Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship presented by MXstore has been forced to cancel its Tasmanian rounds, leaving two rounds remaining on the COVID-impacted 2020 calendar.

Motorcycling Australia (MA) explained that, due to Tasmanian Government restrictions and border closures that will remain in place until December, it was impossible for the Tasmanian AORC weekend to go ahead.
Originally scheduled for 17-18 October at Wynyard in the state’s northwest, what was to be Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2020 AORC calendar had already been shuffled to Rounds 9 and 10 following cancellation of rounds in Nowra, Murray Bridge and Omeo.
Back in June, the AORC released plans to reboot the series in August, but these plans were shredded by fresh coronavirus outbreaks in Victoria and resulting border closures that made it impractical for teams, riders and officials to travel.
The cancellation of the Tasmanian rounds follows KTM’s decision to withdraw from the series entirely on 4 August and focus on state-based activities.
At this stage, there is one AORC weekend remaining, scheduled for 14 – 15 November, but no venue has been confirmed and these rounds remains subject to ongoing COVID-19 developments.
AORC organisers extended their appreciation to all who support the championship, from riders and officials, to host clubs and loyal sponsors for their support and patience during the COVID-19 pandemic.
MA will post updates on the 2020 AORC season as they are confirmed. Stay up to date by visiting the AORC website at https://www.aorc.org.au/
