Suzuki's new 2007 Bandit 1250S
A new big bore version of the Bandit 1200S, Suzuki's new 2007 Bandit 1250S strikes a balance of power, style and technology, combining heavyweight power with distinctive styling and the quality of an all new, technologically advanced engine. "The Suzuki Bandit 1200S became a favourite of a range of riders worldwide by delivering an unmatched package of performance, style and value... now with a big bore version available, the Bandit is even better," Glyn Griffiths, Suzuki Australia's National Marketing Manager for Motorcycles, says. The new Bandit 1250's liquid-cooled, DOHC powerplant with 1255cc of torque producing displacement offers extra smooth acceleration and relaxed highway cruising. Using the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) advanced digital fuel injection system, the 1250S enjoys better response feel, smoother power output, improved mileage and reduced emissions.
For improved engine performance, the cylinder bores are plated with long-wearing, tough Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM), while the piston rings have a friction-reducing chrome-nitride coating. A secondary balancer shaft enhances the engine's smooth operation while a liquid-cooled oil cooler helps maintain optimum engine running temperature. The Bandit 1250S' six-speed transmission has gear ratios chosen especially to deliver powerful acceleration and smooth cruising on open roads. Based around a classic tube frame chassis, the 1250S has a rake and trail designed to create an excellent balance between sporty handling and touring comfort. For rider comfort the Bandit 1250S features a 20mm adjustable seat height and convenient centre stand.
Equipped with 43mm stanchion tube front forks and single rear shock absorber, the Bandit's front and rear suspension is spring preload adjustable. Providing ample stopping power to match the grunt of the Bandit 1250S, the new Suzuki is fitted with a fully floating, 310mm, dual disc front brake with 4-piston calipers, while the rear carries a 240mm disc brake with single-piston caliper. Putting its power to the road, the Bandit 1250S rides on three-spoke, cast aluminium alloy wheels with radial tyres. The Bandit 1250S styling includes a sleek half-fairing with built-in line beam headlight and an effective windscreen. Additional features include an analogue tachometer, LCD digital speedometer, LCD fuel gauge and clock and LED indicator lights.
