Supercross confirmed 2014 Australian GP
The Australian Supercross Championship will return to its purpose-built facility, located behind the Lukey Heights corner.
The Championship recently announced a five round calendar, with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix hosting Rounds Three and Four on 17-19 October.
While the final line up of Supercross categories supporting Pro Open and Pro Lite is still to be confirmed, Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott, was delighted to have the Championship back at Phillip Island.
"The off-track action is fast taking shape for the 2014 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and it's a coup for patrons to confirm the Australian Supercross Championship as a key part of the line up," Westacott said.
"The category has become a real highlight for race-goers and international MotoGP stars alike, and I'm sure this year the supercross riders will again put on an incredible show for the crowd."
Motorcycling Australia CEO, David White, is once again looking forward to seeing a variety of two-wheel skills showcased at the event both on, and off the sealed track.
"Motorcycling Australia is thrilled to see the Australian Supercross Championship return to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island for the third year in succession," White said.
"The event has become a celebration of motorcycling in this country, and it's fitting to have Supercross alongside MotoGP as part of an impressive list of competitive action."
Reigning Australian Supercross Pro Open Champion, Matt Moss, also welcomed the return to Phillip Island.
"The Phillip Island double-header is a big one for all the guys, it's a prestigious event to win, but it can also have big ramifications for your championship challenge, with two rounds in the one weekend," Moss said.
The 2014 Australian Supercross Championship begins in New South Wales on 10 October.
