Stoner honoured at Phillip Island
In a special ceremony at the circuit this morning, Stoner officially joined past Motorcycle Grand Prix World Champions Wayne Gardner and Mick Doohan in having a part of the Phillip Island circuit named after them.
Stoner has won the past five outings at Phillip Island, and is reported as rating the circuit's turn 3 as one of his favourite across all tracks on the MotoGP calendar.
With Stoner's last ride on a MotoGP bike at Phillip Island to take place this weekend, the AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be extra special. The naming of Stoner Corner will ensure the 2007 and 2011 MotoGP World Champion continues to have a presence at the circuit where he has enjoyed so much success.
