Staring continues winning 2012 form at Brno WSBK
On the Pedercini Kawasaki ZX10R, the 25-year-old from Perth led every lap of the race on his way to a comfortable 6.5 second victory over second-placed Eddi La Marra (Barni Racing Team Ducati 1199 Panigale). France's Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki ZX10R) was a distant third.
While La Marra closed to within two seconds of Staring in the latter part of the race, he never threatened the Aussie's lead. Somewhat surprisingly given the wet conditions, there were only two retirees, the BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet S1000RRs of Sylvain Barrier, who started the race from pole, and Lorenzo Baroni.
"We have now won one race in the dry and one race in the wet on the Ninja ZX-10R so it makes me happy," said Staring. "Considering two rounds ago I was in 11th overall and now I am third. Obviously that's really good, but I do not want to think about it too much; I will just take it one race at a time.
"We had a lot of bad luck at the start of the season but it has been coming together better for us in the past few races."
Staring's back-to-back wins elevate him to third in the championship standings on 70 points. Barrier led the championship after round 4, but successive DNFs at this round and Aragon has seen the Frenchman drop to second behind La Marra. With La Marra on 94 points and Barrier on 75 with four rounds of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup remaining, Staring is looking a solid chance for a podium, if not the championship itself.
