SMITHS HOLD LEAD FOR AUSTRALASIAN SAFARI LEG 3

The 2011 Australasian Safari's third leg saw a change of scenery, change of pace, and change of leader as XXXXXXX as the slippery grasslands that characterised the opening day's stages gave way to more open tracks that saw the overall pace increased.

At the end of leg 3, the lead in the moto division has been held by brothers Todd and Jake Smith, both on a Honda CRF 450X, closely followed by Ben Grabham and Matt Fish, both on KTMs.

The Smith brothers have stayed neck and neck since the prologue, but are helping each other along the way.
"Jacob caught me and we raced each other most of the way, and we also worked together to open and close gates. The stages were flowing nicely - it was fun," Todd Smith said.

Matthew Fish continues to show good pace on his KTM 505SXF, finishing third on leg 3's opening stage, behind Damien Grabham and Cyril Despres.

On the Husaberg FE570, Grabham finished leg 3's opening stage 24 seconds ahead of Despres, with Matt Fish a further 31 seconds back. The diominant Smith brothers stumbled on the opening stage, but less than three minutes separate the top five placegetters.
