Despite the departure of Jack Miller from MotoGP at the end of this season, there will still be an Aussie in the premier class next year. Senna Agius has signed with Red Bull KTM Tech3 and will make his MotoGP debut in 2027. The 21-year-old from NSW moves up to the premier class after three full seasons in Moto2 and will join the experienced Luca Marini at Tech3.

Like Miller, Agius has taken a somewhat unconventional route to the premier class. Where Miller skipped the Moto2 category, stepping straight into MotoGP from Moto3, Agius has spent all his international career in the Moto2 World Championship.
Making his start in the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship in 2020, Agius spent two seasons in that Europe-based class before joining the FIM Moto2 European Championship in 2022. He would win that championship in 2023, making a handful of Moto2 starts across the 2022-23 seasons before joining Moto2 full-time from 2024.

Following in the wheel tracks of Miller, as well as Casey Stoner, Mick Doohan, Wayne Gardner, Darryl Beattie and Garry McCoy, to name a few, Agius has a heritage of Australian success to live up to. He’s already demonstrated that in Moto2, with four wins to date, including a very popular victory at last year’s Australian Grand Prix and two wins this season.

“Today, a lifelong dream of mine has come true: reaching MotoGP,” Agius said. “So many years of hard work have gone into this moment, and I'm incredibly grateful to Guenther [Steiner, Tech3 CEO] and everyone at Tech3 for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I can't wait to repay their faith. I know the challenge ahead, but I'm ready to learn, work hard and become the best version of myself with this team.
“A huge thank you to my family, friends, and everyone who has supported me and made sacrifices throughout my journey. I'd also like to thank every team, engineer, and mechanic I've worked with over the years - they've all played a part in helping me reach this point. I can't wait to get started and make everyone proud.”

Guenther Steiner, Tech3 CEO, said: “We believe Senna has the qualities to make a very strong step into MotoGP. He has shown impressive speed and maturity in Moto2, but what really stood out to us was his determination to keep improving and his attitude towards the work required to succeed.
“We are building a team for a completely new era of MotoGP, and we wanted to combine experience with young talent. Senna represents an exciting part of that future. We know there will be a lot for him to learn but we are ready to support him through that process. We are very pleased to welcome him to Tech3 and look forward to seeing him grow with us.”
