Royal Enfield expands Himalayan colour options
When it launched in Australia in 2017, the Himalayan could be had in Snow or Granite, with the funky, camouflage-look Sleet colour scheme arriving in 2018. For 2020, three new colour options have been added – Gravel Grey, Rock Red and Lake Blue. The latter two add a two-tone finish to the fuel tank, in the style of the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 – black and red for Rock Red and blue and white for Lake Blue.
Black mudguards are standard on the Rock Red and Lake Blue, while Gravel Grey gets colour-matched mudguards.
The Himalayan’s rugged construction and features like the split cradle frame, 411cc SOHC single-cylinder engine, 5-speed gearbox, 41mm tele forks and rear monoshock carry over for 2020. But the addition of ABS makes the MY20 Himalayan a little heavier (191kg vs 182kg) and pricing has increased slightly, too – from $6,990 to $7,490 ride away.
Another new Royal Enfield initiative, announced at the same time as the new Himalayan colours, is an online ordering option. In these days of Covid-19 social distancing, removing the need to enter a motorcycle dealership is a smart move. The dealer doesn’t miss out, though, with the online ordering system requiring the customer to nominate their preferred Royal Enfield dealer for the sale. After a $500 holding deposit is paid online, the nominated dealership makes contact to confirm the sale and receive the balance of the payment, $6,990 in this instance, ahead of customer pickup of the bike.
The rest of the Royal Enfield model range can also be ordered online, with finance available. Go to https://royalenfield.com.au/ for more details.
