Reed tries four wheels
Reed spent the day at the Holden Performance Driving Centre on the Gold Coast and under the tutelage of V8 Supercar regular, Paul Morris. After some practice laps in the passenger seat of a Holden road car and some pointers from Morris, Reed then completed a pair of six-lap sessions in Morris's VZ Commodore V8 Supercar. Reed's only error across both sessions was a missed gear change, an offence still common among the most experienced V8 drivers.
"That was, without a doubt, one of the most impressive V8 rookie debut drives I have ever seen", said Morris.
Reed was rapt just to get a chance to drive a V8 Supercar, even more so when he didn't stall it during his fast laps.
"It was awesome to have had the opportunity to drive a real V8 Supercar", Reed said.
"I have always had a long term goal of being able to drive in the endurance races and particularly Bathurst.
"Although today did whet my appetite for more time in a V8 Supercar, I still have my current goal of winning the 2007 and 2008 AMA Supercross Championships to accomplish. That is what I am focused on at this point, but you never know what I might have time for in the off-season!"
