Reed, Lawrence auction toolbox for charity
With three kids of his own, Reed understands the importance of the Good Friday Appeal for families who have sick kids.
“My kids are my world and their health and happiness mean everything to me,” Reed said. “The Good Friday Appeal raises money and awareness to support kids in need and I am proud to be involved.”
The tool box, a Milwaukee 46-inch (1.68m) High Capacity steel tool box and roll cab combination, includes a built-in power centre and was offered with a complement of tools, including a 28-piece 1/4-inch drive socket set, mini 1/4-inch drive socket set, 32 piece 3/8-inch drive socket set, 9-piece screwdriver set, open end/ring spanner set (8mm/22mm), 5-piece vice grip set, 8m tape measure, 3/8-inch drive battery powered rachet, 1/2-inch drive battery powered ratchet, a soft tool pack and battery-powered work fan.
Separate to the tool chest, American MX/SX star Malcolm Stewart donated a signed jersey to also benefit the Good Friday Appeal.
At an online auction conducted by Official Memorabilia, both items attracted strong interest. When bidding closed on 1 May, the signed and framed Malcolm Stewart jersey (as worn by Stewart at the St. Louis AMA SX round in January) sold for $601.00. The Milwaukee tool box saw two enthusiasts go back and forth in $50.00 increments before a final bid of $1,550.00 secured the prize – and an important donation to the Good Friday Appeal.
“Watching your kids grow up and chase their dreams is something all parents should get to witness so I’m proud of Jett and his idol Chad Reed for contributing to this cause,” said Jett Lawrence’s dad, Darren.
