Reed blows yanks away!
Australia's Chad Reed has become only the second rider in the history of the AMA Supercross series to take all three 'Anaheim' race wins in a season, after his emphatic victory at the fifth round of the 2008 AMA Supercross FIM World Championship. It was a perfect night for the 25 year old Australian who, in front of a record crowd of 43,785, won his heat race, recorded the fastest lap time for the number one gate pick, and then led the 20 lap Main Event from start to finish.
The following weekend Reed made it five straight Californian wins with victory in San Diego. Reed again claimed the fastest lap of the night. He fell on lap 12, remounted in second place and chased down the leader, regained the lead and pulled away four laps later to claim his fifth win of the season. Just as this issue went to press, Reed's winning run came to an end, the Aussie finishing second behind Kevin Windham in Round 7 of the series, in Houston, Texas. Interestingly, the Houston track was one of Windham's own creation, one of several riders to do so in a new initiative for the series this season. Reed's track will be unveiled at the Indianapolis round on March 1.
