Philips Island SBK date locked in for 2016
Slated for next February 26-28, 2016*, the 2016 event is set to be another Phillip Island scorcher, with all the protagonists from this year set to return.
The Kawasaki duo of Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes will be on updated ZX-10Rs, Ducati are now back in the hunt thanks to tough-as-nails Briton Chaz Davies, Leon Haslam will be back on an Aprilia, while Honda will no doubt be hoping to turn around their poor 2015 form. Former world champion Sylvain Guintoli and up-and-coming Dutchman, Michael van der Mark, will be looking to get some runs on the board for Honda as much as themselves, so expect the Honda duo to make a statement in the opening round.
As usual, the world superbike circus will be backed by the world supersport boys, as well as a full undercard of Australian national road racing classes.
In more good news, Phillip Island is revamping their campground to include powered sites and the new layout means the Go Karts will operate all world superbike weekend for some extra fun.
There's plenty more plans afoot for 2016, so event organisers are urging race fans to start their planning now for a summer weekend away with mates next February.
Tickets will go on sale early September.
