Manjimup 15000 film to premiere this May.
While the 2026 Manjimup 15000 has been cancelled due to fuel uncertainty issues in Western Australia related to the US-Iran war, there will still be a chance for MX enthusiasts to get a taste of this treasured WA motorsport event. On what would have been this year’s race weekend - Sunday, 31 May – a new documentary on the event will premiere in Manjimup, followed by further screenings in Perth.

Produced by Australian Motocross History (AMX History), Magic Manjimup 15000 MX: 40 Years of History in One Hour, is the result of more than six months’ production. The documentary delves deep into the four distinct eras of Australia’s most successful motocross event; from its earliest renditions in the 1980s, through to the Dirt High Promotions takeover in the 2010s.
Combining archival footage with hundreds of historical photographs (many provided courtesy of renowned Australian motocross photographer Peter Kitchingman), the one-hour documentary details the unique history that has taken place at Cosy Creek MX Circuit.
Magic Manjimup is the passion project for the author and owner of AMX History, John Steyntjes. A former sidecar racer and motocross champion, Steyntjes has a personal connection to the Manjimup 15000, having competed at the event in the 1980s.

In the lead up to the premiere in Manjimup, AMX History will feature extracts from the documentary via its Facebook group, allowing fans a ‘sneak peek’ of the film prior to its first screening.
Following the premiere in Manjimup on Sunday, 31 May, Magic Manjimup will screen weekly each Saturday at the Power Up Electricity Museum in Manjimup (151 Giblett Street) throughout June. The film will then be shown in Perth at the Camelot Arts Centre in Mosman Park over the weekend of 10–12 July.
