Maddo goes looooooong at Crusty Night of World Records!
In a three way duel that involved Seth Enslow and Ryan Capes, Maddison came out on top when, on his third attempt, he pulled out a massive 107 metre (351 ft) jump in front of a crowd of almost 30,000. Maddo hit the ramp at more than 165km/h and rose 20 metres in the air before making a safe landing. The jump exceeded Capes' 98.7 metres (324 ft) and the 105.5 metres (346 ft) Maddo cleared in practice. The distance was also 9 metres longer than his own Las Vegas jump on New Year's Eve.
Prior to the big jumps, rain brought proceedings to a brief halt, but as the skies cleared and the ramp dried, the record-setters took the track. Crusty fans got a scare early when the legendary Bubba crashed while attempting a "fat man's" record jump, and other would-be record setters suffered various mechanical and other problems. Maddison made his jumps look easy, and is now set to jump 400+ ft in China later this year.
