Maddison confirmed for 2017 AUS-X Open
To be held at the Qudos Bank Arena, the 2017 AUS-X Open will be Maddison's only competitive appearance in Australia this year, and the soon-to-be 36-year-old says he's looking forward to it: "I'm stoked to finally be able to compete at the Aus-X Open this year. I was able to be there to enjoy it in 2015 as a spectator and it was an amazing spectacle, without a doubt."
Best known for his word record longest jump on a motorcycle (107 metres) and more recently for "surfing" a motorcycle at Tahiti's famous Teaupoo break, Maddison will be competing in the FMX 'Best Trick' competition against a field of internationally-recognised FMX talent.
AUS-X Open event organiser Adam Bailey describes Maddison as a legend and an innovator in the sport of FMX, adding that the FMX Best Trick competition will be refined this year to deliver an even better spectator experience: "There's absolutely no doubt that this year's event will be bigger and better than ever before!"
Other FMX stars are yet to be announced, but for the SX races, Chad Reed, Ricky Carmichael and Jason Anderson have all been confirmed, with the Sydney event rumoured to be Reed's last competitive campaign before retirement.
Tickets for the 11-12 November event are now on sale, starting from $40 and will sell out, so make sure you book your tickets soon. Go toausxopen.comto purchase tickets and get event updates.
