Lecuona extends Ducati contract in WorldSBK
Within a fortnight of achieving his maiden race win the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK), Iker Lecuona signed a contract extension with Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team for the 2027 and 2028 WorldSBK seasons.
While Lecuona has been in WorldSBK since 2022, the Spaniard only joined Aruba.it Racing – Ducati this year. The move has paid off in spades, with a string of podiums to go with the 26-year-old’s debut win, making the decision to remain with the factory Ducati team an easy one.

“I am really happy,” Lecuona said. “I have already said several times how my life has completely changed since I joined this great family. For this reason, renewing my contract with Aruba.it Racing – Ducati is deeply satisfying.
“I want to thank Aruba and Ducati for giving me this new opportunity. It is great to think about a future together, but the most important thing now is to finish this season in the best possible way, trying to enjoy ourselves, keep improving our performance and, above all, achieve increasingly important results.”

Lecuona came to WorldSBK after three full seasons in Moto2, then three in MotoGP. While he failed to win a race in that time, Lecuona did secure a couple of podium finishes in each category.
Making his WorldSBK debut with Team HRC, Lecuona found the Honda CBR1000RR-R as challenging as those before him. A pole and podium in 2022, followed by another podium in 2024, were the Spaniard’s highlights across four seasons with Team HRC.
Since switching to Aruba.t Racing – Ducati, Lecuona had achieved 19 podiums on the Panigale V4R at time of writing, with the breakthrough win coming at Donington Park in July.

Stefano Cecconi, Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Team Principal, said he was happy to retain Lecuona for the next two seasons.
“From the very beginning, we believed in his talent, but what truly won us over was the way he became part of the group: he adapted to the bike and to the team with surprising naturalness, always bringing the same passion, dedication and team spirit that define our garage.
“Having two more seasons ahead of us together is a fantastic prospect.”
