Le Minz 24 Hour Scooterthon - next week
45 teams of four riders will begin one of Australia's longest running motorcycle charity events - the Insure My Ride 24 Hour Le Minz Scooterthon presented by UniFilter, MotoExpo.com.au and Reevu Helmets.
The event has been moved from the Gold Coast Showgrounds due to the Commonwealth Games village construction to a new home at the Xtreme karting complex, 540 Pimpama-Jacobs Well Road, Pimpama.
Dubbed as the most gruelling scooter race in the world, Le Minz is open to standard 50cc scooters. The rides might be small, but the rider line up is as big as it gets.
3 x World Speedway Champion Jason Crump and 3 x World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss will join forces to compete in next week's event. It might be a sign of unfinished business for the duo after the scooter they were riding last year decided the punishment was just far too much and retired after 21 hours.
Racesafe Medical Team - Australia's leading event medical team - is one of the chosen charities of the event. Racesafe will also field two race teams on the grid, with members made up of a mix of paramedics and other guest riders such as Aussie motocross legend Stephen Gall.
Le Minz Scooterthon begins 11:00AM Friday 13th and concludes 11:00AM Saturday 14th December. Public are more then welcome to attend the family event that will include a jumping castle for the kids. Fans are welcome to meet and greet the guest riders, its a simple gold coin donation at the gate.
