KRT re-signs Alex Lowes for 2021
Lowes, who came to KRT this year after four seasons with Yamaha’s factory WSBK team, made an impressive debut on the KRT ZX-10RR back in February. At the opening round of the 2020 WSBK Championship at Phillip Island, Lowes scored a podium and his second ever race win. That debut must have been considered impressive enough for KRT to retain the 29-year-old Brit for 2021, despite no racing being held since, due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The outbreak also meant the new deal was done in a non-traditional way, via a Skype call between Lowes, Kawasaki’s Steve Guttridge and KRT Team Manager, Guim Roda on 27 May.
“It is great to be with Kawasaki for 2021,” Lowes said. “I can continue adapting to the team and adapting myself to the ZX-10RR. Ever since I joined the team, I’ve really felt like it was an opportunity for me to make another step forward with my riding. Being team mates with Jonny {Jonathan Rea), I feel I can learn so much from him and the atmosphere in the team is great.

“The current situation in the world is not ideal for anyone, but Kawasaki really makes me feel positive and focused on the future. It has been fantastic to get something sorted out for 2021 before going into the rest of the races this year.
“I cannot wait to get back up there with ‘Team 22’ this season, working with Marcel and the guys, and looking forward to even bigger things as we go into next year.”
