K 1600 GT and GTL bag US awards

And now, as well as redefining the Sports Touring and Luxury Touring markets, the two bikes have recently taken out major awards in prestigious American magazines.

Cycle World named the K 1600 GTL 'The Best Touring Bike of 2011' and the K 1600 GT the 'Best Sport-Touring Bike'. In the September edition of Motorcyclist the K 1600 GT took out the 'Best Touring Bike' and BMW Motorrad's innovative Adaptive Headlight Technology that is standard on both bikes, the 'Best New Technology' award.

"It is one thing to win the game; it's something else altogether to change the rules," said the editor of Cycle World.

"The company that invented Grand Touring reinvents the Grand Tourer - BMW's class-busting inline has what it takes to lock up the class for the next decade. Or two!" said Motorcyclist.

BMW Motorrad Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Tony Sesto, was excited by the news of the awards.

"These are the first of many awards I believe these two motorcycles will win in the future.
